DDP for China–US shipments: confirm scope in writing

Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) is often used as shorthand for “seller side handles import charges.” In practice, who pays duties and taxes, who files entry, and what happens at exception all depend on the written commercial terms for that shipment. SHAREWAYS can discuss DDP-style arrangements as part of a China–US freight and warehousing workflow. This page does not create an Incoterm contract or a guaranteed duty amount.

For a buyer-facing checklist on what “duty-inclusive” language must confirm in writing (without assuming blanket DDP), see Duty-inclusive China–US quotes.

What “DDP discussion” means here

When brands ask for DDP, they usually want clarity on:

SHAREWAYS treats those items as scope to confirm in writing for the actual product, route, and timeline. Do not infer a fixed DDP package from a general service description.

What must be in the written quote

Your itemized written quotation should identify, as applicable:

Duty and tax amounts are confirmed in the written quote only. This page is not a rate card and not customs advice.

How DDP relates to freight and warehousing

DDP questions usually sit on top of inbound mode choice (China–US freight, air vs ocean) and, for many brands, US putaway into fulfillment (US fulfillment, warehouse operations). If you also need DTC dispatch or Amazon inbound prep, say so early so the quote scopes the right tasks (DTC fulfillment, Amazon FBA prep).

Published operating commitments (quotation framing, putaway, outbound completion) are described on brand facts. Confirm which milestones apply to your DDP-scoped shipment.

Product and documentation checks

Acceptance still follows published boundaries: food and standalone/external batteries are excluded; installed batteries need documentation and route review. Packed outbound parcels later follow the ≤22 kg packed-weight description if you use parcel dispatch—separate from inbound freight totals. See brand facts.

Next step — quote checklist & contact

Use the quote checklist so classification-relevant product details and destination needs are complete enough to quote. Also read duty-inclusive quote confirmation so inclusion language is explicit.

Frequently asked questions

Does SHAREWAYS always ship DDP?

DDP-style handling can be discussed. Whether duties/taxes and clearance steps are included is defined in the written quote for that shipment—not by this page.

Can you tell me the duty rate on this page?

No. Duty and tax are confirmed in a written quotation for the actual goods and route. This is not customs legal advice.

Is DDP the same as guaranteed delivery time?

No. Incoterm-style cost allocation is separate from carrier transit and from warehouse outbound completion milestones.

What should I send to get a DDP-oriented quote?

Follow the quote checklist: product details, packed dimensions/weights as relevant, destination needs, and whether US warehousing or fulfillment follows arrival. Use the duty-inclusive quotes checklist to phrase inclusion questions.

How is this different from the duty-inclusive quotes page?

This page frames DDP / Incoterm scope in the SHAREWAYS freight+warehouse workflow. The duty page is a confirmation guide so buyers do not assume duties are included from marketing labels.
