How to Compare US Fulfillment Costs
A fulfillment quote combines receiving and put-away, picking and dispatch, storage where applicable, and last-mile shipping. Compare the same warehouse, currency, units and validity period before comparing totals.
Operational guide · 14 October 2026
Separate the cost components
Receiving fees cover the agreed inbound handling. Storage depends on the agreed inventory and billing rules. Picking and dispatch cover the agreed outbound work. Carrier shipping and additional handling should be shown separately. A quoted receiving fee is not an all-inclusive cost per order.
Use one scope for each comparison
| Item | Confirm before comparing |
|---|
| Warehouse and currency | Confirm the warehouse and whether the quote uses USD or CAD. |
| Inbound stock | Specify cartons, units, SKU count and receiving instructions. |
| Storage | Identify the billing unit, relevant period and applicable minimums. |
| Order handling | Specify items per order, labels and packaging requirements. |
| Carrier delivery | Use packed weight, dimensions, destination and the selected route. |
| Exceptions | Ask which remote-area, counting, difficult-handling or repacking charges apply. |
Distinguish physical and chargeable weight
Record actual packed weight and carton dimensions separately. Chargeable-weight rules can differ between receiving and carrier routes. Ask which divisor, rounding rule and minimum apply to each item in the written quote. Do not assume that a divisor used for receiving applies to every shipping route.
Check the proposed operating plan
In-house fulfillment offers direct operational control but requires your own space and staff. A fulfillment partner requires agreed receiving instructions, fees, data exchange and exception handling. Existing warehouse capacity alone does not prove a business needs outsourcing. Evaluate your real constraints rather than assuming one option is always cheaper.
Prepare the quote
- Provide the product list, quantities and SKU count.
- Provide packed weights, dimensions and destination ZIP codes.
- Specify receiving, labels, packaging, storage and returns work.
- Request separate cost components and applicable extra charges.
- Confirm the validity period and responsibilities in writing.
Service boundaries
SHAREWAYS publicly offers China-to-US inbound freight, warehouse handling and parcel fulfillment subject to an agreed quote. Its published parcel scope is greater than 0 and up to 22 kg including packaging. Route dimensions and installed batteries require review. Food, standalone or external batteries, and repairs requiring professional qualifications are outside the confirmed scope.
Request a scoped quote
Send your product and shipment details. No price, transit time or saving is guaranteed by this guide. A written route-specific quote governs the agreed service.

Can a small US ecommerce business start with low shipment quantities?
SHAREWAYS' company-confirmed scope states no minimum shipment quantity. A small seller can request a product-specific fulfillment review, but this statement does not establish zero monthly minimum spend, free storage, free setup or acceptance of every SKU. Confirm any monthly order-volume obligation separately in the written quotation. Shipment quantity, monthly order volume and minimum invoice amount are different measures.
Separate the three minimums
| Term | What it measures | What to obtain in writing |
|---|
| Minimum shipment quantity | Goods included in a particular inbound shipment. | The accepted product and proposed inbound quantity; do not infer a free handling allowance. |
|---|
| Monthly order-volume commitment | Orders that must be submitted within a billing period. | Whether any commitment applies, how the period is defined and what happens below it. |
|---|
| Minimum invoice or service charge | The minimum amount payable for a period or task. | Which fees count toward it and whether it replaces or is added to itemized charges. |
|---|
Compare low-volume costs without inventing a rate
Use the same actual SKU list, inbound quantity, stored inventory, expected orders, items per order, packaging, destinations and billing period for each quote. Ask for one-off, recurring, per-order and exception charges separately. A blank or unresolved rate is not zero. An included charge must not be added again.
- List the inbound receiving work and any setup or SKU preparation.
- Record storage space, time unit, partial-period treatment and applicable minimums.
- Separate order handling, additional picks, labels and packaging materials.
- Identify the carrier service, packed weight and dimensions, destination and current applicable surcharges.
- Record returns, special work and cancellation or account terms before comparing the complete cost for your profile.
There is no universal monthly order count at which outsourcing becomes cheaper. Compare the quoted total with your own staff time, space, supplies and actual shipping costs. This checklist supplies no SHAREWAYS price, saving estimate or guaranteed acceptance.

How SHAREWAYS fee units differ by operation
Compare the billing unit and operation before comparing a rate. The company-confirmed rate book separates inbound unloading, optional counting, outbound SKU handling, storage and additional work. A per-SKU handling charge is not automatically a per-order all-inclusive price. The US warehouse columns use USD; Canadian warehouse columns use CAD. Use the actual warehouse column and agreed quotation rather than converting or substituting another location's rate.
| Operation | Unit in the applicable rate-book section | Scope to confirm in the quote |
|---|
| Container unloading | Container type; additional carton-related charges may be separate. | Arrival method, container size, carton count, mixed-SKU arrangement and difficult-handling work. Do not treat unloading as a complete outbound-order cost. |
|---|
| Loose inbound cartons | Carton, with the specified chargeable-weight band. | Actual and dimensional weight, the specific receiving rule, quantities and included handling. A warehouse receiving divisor is not a universal carrier shipping divisor. |
|---|
| Optional inventory counting | SKU unit, with the applicable weight band. | Whether counting has been requested and its scope. Counting quantities is separate from product-quality inspection; do not assume every receipt includes an item-by-item check. |
|---|
| Outbound handling | Each SKU unit, using the relevant weight band. | Picking, removal from stock, shipping-label application and dispatch scope; separately identify carrier postage and any additional packaging or special work. |
|---|
| Standard stock storage | Cubic metres (CBM) per day, with inventory-age bands. | Volume, age, warehouse column, applicable minimum and when the billing clock begins. Do not replace a daily volumetric rule with a generic monthly pallet estimate. |
|---|
| LA returns stock storage | USD per cubic metre per day under the separate LA value-added/returns schedule. | This schedule states storage starts on receipt with no rent-free period. Do not carry a standard-stock introductory storage band over to returned goods. |
|---|
| Product and outer labels | Applied product SKU label or outer/shipping label, as specified. | Label type, quantity, removal of old labels and the work included. Product-label and carton-label tasks are distinct items. |
|---|
| Packaging and repacking | Bag, box, combined pack or labour time, depending on the selected task. | The LA schedule lists bag/box options that include the described material and packing work; special repacking may use actual labour time with a minimum chargeable interval. Confirm the task and inclusions before adding material or labour again. |
|---|
Resolve exceptions before calculating a total
The rate book has separate rules for excess cartons, mixed SKUs, difficult handling and other exceptional work. Confirm the counting basis and warehouse applicability in writing rather than assuming all tasks are included. Missing or unresolved prices remain a request for written clarification, not a zero price. The published parcel enquiry scope remains above zero and up to 22 kg including packaging; heavier bands elsewhere in the warehouse rate book do not by themselves confirm an outbound parcel route.
Fuel and carrier accessorials remain tied to the named carrier, service, applicable date and official terms for the actual shipment. This table supplies no live fuel percentage, new rate, price guarantee or universal dimensional divisor.

Check carrier fuel and area charges against dated official sources

| Reference | What was checked | Quote check |
|---|
| UPS US fuel | Separate service categories and shipment-date application; the numeric history did not appear in the inspected text view. | Obtain the applicable published percentage and calculation basis; do not guess from another service. |
|---|
| UPS rate and area-charge guides | The linked delivery/remote ZIP workbook was downloaded and parsed; its header says effective 21 December 2025. | Match the actual destination and applicable guide. The inspection date is not a new list effective date. |
|---|
| FedEx US fuel | A service-specific table for 19-25 October 2026 and different calculation bases. | Verify the shipping date, selected service, customer terms and any accessorial charges included in the fuel base. |
|---|
| FedEx rate and area-charge updates | The page distinguishes the 20 July 2026 delivery-area list from an announced 2027 list. | Use the applicable current list and service; do not apply a future list early. |

Keep a short surcharge record with the written quotation
- Record the named service, origin/destination postal codes and shipping date.
- Separate base transport, fuel, delivery-area/remote, residential, handling, oversize and any seasonal items that actually apply.
- Record each source link, effective window, currency, unit, inclusion and calculation base. Some percentage bases can include other applicable fees; do not assume all percentages apply only to transport.
- Check whether the quote already includes the item before adding it again. A missing confirmed surcharge remains unresolved, not zero.
- Recheck if the service, destination, packed profile or shipping date changes, and retain the accepted quotation reference.

Minimum fees, storage basis and tax scope
Does no minimum shipment quantity mean there is no minimum charge?
No. Shipment quantity and billing minimums are different questions. The company-confirmed absence of a minimum shipment quantity does not establish zero account, receiving, storage, order-processing or other minimum fees. Ask for the applicable billing unit, minimum amount if any, currency, effective period and written inclusion or exclusion for your actual profile. An unconfirmed fee remains unresolved, not zero; an industry pricing example is not a SHAREWAYS rate.
Which storage billing details should a comparable quotation specify?
Use the same expected inventory and storage duration for every quotation. Record the quoted unit, quantity measurement, daily or monthly accrual, any rounding, minimum period, free allowance if agreed, long-stay treatment and effective dates. Do not assume that pallet, cubic-foot, cubic-metre or SKU prices are interchangeable. This page and its blank worksheet do not set a storage tariff; the applicable written quotation and rate-book terms must identify the actual basis.
Does a fulfillment quotation automatically include duties, taxes and every surcharge?
Do not assume inclusion or exclusion from a service label, delivered-price example or missing line item. Request a written breakdown identifying which freight, warehouse, fuel and other applicable charges are included, excluded or still unresolved. Ask the quotation to state the agreed delivery scope, customs-clearance arrangements, responsible parties and treatment of applicable duties and taxes. This page does not establish a blanket tax-inclusive or duty-paid policy and does not determine anyone's legal tax liability. Confirm the actual shipment and applicable terms before accepting a total.
